Couples therapy
For two, together or from two homes
For two adults who would like a neutral clinician to help them talk.
Sessions are 80 minutes, by video or in our Brewer office. You can join from one screen, or each of you can join from a different place, even a different town.

What sessions look like
How sessions with two people work
The clinician hears each of you, and keeps the time even.
- 01
Step 1: The first session
Your clinician hears from each of you in turn and explains how they work, the limits of confidentiality and the possible risks and benefits.
- 02
Step 2: The sessions after
A conversation with a clinician who does not take sides. Your clinician names the methods they use and where they trained.
- 03
Step 3: Length and frequency
A session is 80 minutes. How often is up to the two of you and your clinician. We do not promise a number of sessions.
What this is not, and how it is paid
What this is not
This is not an evaluation for custody or for a court. If you do not feel safe at home, write to us separately, not from a shared device, and we talk with you alone first.
How it is paid
With insurance, by paying yourself, or a mix. Your fee is given to you in writing before you start. The fees page explains the rest.

Questions about couples therapy
Can we each join from a different place?
Yes. Each of you can join from your own home or from different towns, as long as you are each in Maine or New Hampshire and somewhere private.
What if only one of us wants to come?
Your clinician can see one of you on your own, in individual therapy. Write to us and we will explain how that works.
Do you work with couples who live apart?
Yes, if you are each in Maine or New Hampshire during the session. The clinician sees you on one video call.
Would you like to begin?
Write to us, and tell us who will be in the session. We reply in writing.
